The Children’s School is one of a kind
We are a non-zoned school covering all of Brooklyn District 15, including Park Slope, Windsor Terrace, Kensington, Sunset Park, Red Hook, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, and Boerum Hill.
We also enroll students from the citywide special education District 75.

OUR
HISTORY
The Children’s School was founded in 1992 as a unique partnership between Districts 15 and 75
It was the first public full inclusion elementary school in New York City, educating general education and special education students together in every classroom at our Carroll St site.
Our school has expanded over time, adding three specialized sites for students with autism and other related disorders in Fort Greene, Dyker Heights, and Gowanus.

We believe that students learn best and reach their potential when provided with a safe, nurturing, accessible, and supportive environment. This is possible when all stakeholders work collaboratively and are engaged in the shared creation of goals centered around instruction that is rigorous, differentiated, enriched, and inclusive for all.
