Our Philsophy

We believe that students learn best and reach their potential when provided with a safe, nurturing, accessible, and supportive environment. This is possible when all stakeholders work collaboratively and are engaged in the shared creation of goals centered around instruction that is rigorous, differentiated, enriched, and inclusive for all.

Mission

    • Inclusive learning for all: General-education and special-education students learn together with supports tailored to diverse abilities.

    • Celebrate every identity: A community that honors differences in ability, gender, race/ethnicity, income, orientation, and religion—and our shared humanity.

    • High expectations, child-centered: A standards-based curriculum that challenges each learner and builds real-world, tech-ready skills.

    • Expert educators: Ongoing, rigorous professional development so staff can meet a full range of learning needs.

    • Literacy at the core: Reading and writing anchor learning, with the arts and technology integrated across subjects.

    • Whole-child growth: Students develop confidence, social and physical competence, and respect for individuality and differences.

    • Home–school partnership: Strong collaboration with families to ensure success for every student.

Adelphi Street campus

300 ADELPHI STREET

Our Adelphi Street campus is located in MS 113 in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, and supports students with Autism and other related disorders in Specialized Classrooms (6:1:1 or 8:1:1) in Kindergarten thru 8th grade. At this site, classrooms keep a ratio of either 6:1:1 or 8:1:1 and include six or eight students, one special education teacher and one classroom paraprofessional and where necessary a crisis management or health paraprofessional for students whose IEP indicate such need. We utilize a structured teaching model and include work centers, 1:1 instruction and whole group instruction when appropriate. Related service providers collaborate with teachers to create a learning environment that supports students’ sensory and communication needs. Currently we partner with the Brooklyn Conservatory for music therapy and Marquis Studios for visual arts instruction.
